Choosing the right fence posts
Spruce posts are the most commonly available posts used in the UK. Due to changes in environmental regulations, many of the useful (but harmful) chemicals for treating the timber have now been discontinued.
The treatment of these posts usually only penetrates the post by a few millimetres. The result is a short post life, sometimes as low as 5 years.
Concrete Posts
Concrete posts are one alternative to using Spruce posts. They have a much longer life and other pros and cons. On the plus side, they are easy to maintain, so long as they have been installed well. Fence panels can be slid in, but they can also be slid out.
Jacksons Fence Posts
